From a very inept and down on her luck "nanny" (who really wasn't very good with kids) to the gal who saved the day, repeatedly. Anticipation builds for turning each page to find out what we will discover next. I have to admit it's rather funny. To put it simply, the book is about enlightenment when___' hits the fan. It is a wonderful read to follow, and as you read take time to refer to the Bible passages that are often quoted. The essays examine Audelay's biography, his self-representation as the maker of his book, and the specific parts of that book, from the poems and colophons found in The Counsel of Conscience to the salutations and carols that follow in the manuscript, concluding with a defense of Audelay's authorship of Three Dead Kings and Fein's own study of the multiple endings of the Audelay Manuscript.
