From fund raising for the Clan Donald Lands Trust, through rebuilding three dilapidated hotels, bringing one of them from nothing into the ranks of the world's most prestigious and garlanded small country house hotels, establishing herself as a world class working and teaching chef and prolific cookery writer, gaining a Michelin star for her restaurant and raising a sizable family in her non-existent spare time, the daily overcoming of the myriad difficulties put in her way and succeeding against all odds has become just part of an extraordinary life. I reached a point around the 75% mark where I found myself wanting to loop around the block rather than park in my driveway because the details were coming fast and furious and the suspense I was feeling as a reader/listener drove me to want to know how events would be resolved. I'm an aviation buff, but I think anyone with an interest in turn of the century American history will find this book fascinating. Definitely helpful for someone new to the area.
